I believe this may be the only full set of five colorful chrome floats in their original box.

Here's the story of how I got this box of chromes:

I had heard rumors that a well respected collectors may be looking to sell a set of chrome floats in their original box.

I'd seen Walt Pich's set of snakeskin floats in their original box and was intensely jealous (ha ha).

I asked Walt to introduce me to the potential seller if they showed up at the 2020 Beachcombers Fun Fair.  Unfortunately, Walt couldn't make the Fun Fair due to an urgent health issue, so he told me that the guy's name ... "Sheldon".

As destiny would have it, I was standing in line to pay my admission when someone in the crowd raised their voice and said "Hey Sheldon".  My radar went up.  My heart began to race.  My true float hunt had just begun!

I followed the guy who answered to the name Sheldon and introduced myself.  I asked about the illusive 'Box of Chromes' I had so much desired.  We went out to the parking lot and transacted one of those historic 'parking lot deals'.

Sheldon sold me one of his two boxes of chromes.  Six months later I heard the horrible news that a wild fire in Oregon had destroyed Sheldon's home and all of his belongings; leaving only one box of chromes.
