This 3 inch float has a very rare Double Spindle. Both spindles are free standing. They run from the seal button to the base of the float.
One of the spindles is fine and has dripped on to a large bubble in the glass. The other spindle is quite a bit thicker.
This light green float measures 9 3/4 inches in circumference.
Found on Hokkaido Island, Japan.
Bold clear stamp of maker's mark WP #320. This mark looks like an 'O' above a hash mark.
There are 6 or 7 other examples of this mark in collections. All are 5 inch floats; the same size as this one.
Found on Hokkaido Island, Japan.
Perfect stamp of WP #319 'Me' メ Ichi 一 (with hash mark below).
In his book 'Glass Ball Marks', Walt Pich states that "The mark has been found on the sealing buttons of light blue 3.5 inch glass balls." This float is almost 5 inches in diameter and may be the only known example of WP #319 in the 5 inch size.
The glass ball itself is quite beautiful. It's a lovely light blue color, there are swirls in the surface of the glass, and it has a 'orange peel' type dappling on the bottom half of the float.
Found on Hokkaido Island, Japan.
Deeply stamped WP #241 'Hachi' 八 mark on a 5 inch float.
In Walt Pich's book 'Glass Ball Marks', he notes that regarding mark WP #241 "Four inch is the only known size." This float may be the only known specimen of mark WP #241 in the 5 inch size. It measures 15 inches in diameter.
Light Blue Seal on a 10 inch float. The seal button also has some blue swirls in it.
This floats construction leads me to believe it's quite old. It has tons of bubbles in the glass and the glass has a swirling texture on the surface. This float's shape is a little out-of-round, too.
Found in Japan.
Great example of a float with Double Seals.
Both of the seals are stamped with several WP #21 marks. Some of these stamps are complete; others are only partial marks.
This float is completely frosted and measures almost 5 inches in diameter.
Beachcombed in Alaska.
Very nice dark blue seal on a 3 inch Japanese glass fishing float.
The frequency of Blue Dots on 3 inch size floats is relatively low. There seems to be more blue dots on 2 inch and 4 inch floats than on 3 inch floats.
The blue seal button is a particularly nice dark cobalt blue color, too.
This float has net pattern frosting over the entire float.
This float has excellent provenance. It was beachcombed in the Aleutian Islands by Paul Umlauf.
Clear and complete stamp showing all points in rendering the symbols 'Maru Sa' サ. I could not find this mark in any field guides, although it is very similar to WP #277 'Maru No Sa'.
The 'Sa' mark shows the flair in the lettering that makes it stand out from the standard script.
This float is slightly out-of-round and measures 3 inches in diameter.
Found in Northern Japan.
This float has excellent provenance having come from the ex-Ramon Fulton collection.
Clear bold stamp of 'Maru Ri' り. This mark has been classified as WP #281 in Walt Pich's field guides. He notes that this maker's mark has been identified on 3 1/2 inch balls and is uncommon.
This example measures 2 1/4 inches in diameter. It may be one of the only documented specimen of WP #281 on a 2 inch size float.
This netted float is pale blue/green in color; it's almost clear.

This float has excellent provenance having come from the ex-Col. Rich Richardson collection.
Amber green swirls that are formed into a wonderful swirl pattern.
There are also tons of bubbles.
This float measures 3 inches in diameter.
