This undocumented mark is comprised of two parts.
The upper part has a Rectangle with two symbols inside. On the left side is the 'Hoko' symbol. On the right, is a single 'hash' mark.
The lower part of the maker's mark has a Circle with the 'Tokui' symbol inside.
This mark seems to be pretty rare since it's not in any beachcombing field guides.
This float measure 3 inches in diameter.
Found in Hawaii.
This stamp of WP #293 is bold and quite impressive. The rendering of this mark has some nice accents and flairs to it, too.
The circle appears to be more like two half circles that overlap and don't quite make a perfect circle.
This float measures 3 inches diameter.
Found in Hawaii.
Here's on of my favorite marks, it's WP #258. This stamp is clear and complete, showing all points.
This float is a nice light green color and measures 3 inches in diameter.
In Walt Pich's book 'Glass Ball Marks', he details the history of this mark. Apparently, 6 or 7 of these floats were found on the Marshall Islands around 2008 and sold on eBay.
I feel very fortunate to be one of those lucky eBay buyers who were in the right place at the right time to acquire this beautiful mark!
This mark appears to be similar to WP #249.
When I got this float in 2012 it was a rare find. Now, many of these have turned up in Hawai'i and flooded the market. This is a great example of how an unknown 'rare' expensive mark can quickly turn into common cheap mark.
This float measures 3 1/2 inches in diameter.
Found in Hawaii.
Almost complete stamp of WP #127 'Maru Mizu ㊌ Sa' サ, part of the circle is just slightly off the seal.
WP #127 is one of the 'Sa' series of marks. It's classified as uncommon.
This float measures 3 inches in diameter.
Found in Hawaii.
Nice thick bold stamp of maker's mark WP #23 'Maru Ta' タ.
It is classified as an uncommon mark with the 'Ta' タ in a circle.
Typically found of 3 inch and 4 inch float, this mark on a 2 inch float is a little unusual.
Found in Hawaii.
This Pumpkin float is 12 inches wide by 12 inches tall. That's a little different than the squashed shape pumpkins normally seen.
The float has a pear-like shape not quite a Hershey Kiss shape.
It has a 'wine bottle' shaped neck with a typical pumpkin seal.
There are no patches on this float.
Small 2 1/4 inch float with a fine Spindle.
This float also has a partial Kawaguchi maker's mark WP #10.
Found on Hokkaido Island, Japan.
Tohoku roller with an ultra rare Spindle.
This spindle is quite thick and goes side-to-side. It measures about 1 inch in length.
Green colored rollers are uncommon. Rollers with spindles are extremely rare. A green roller with a highly visible spindle is ultra rare. This is one of two that I've ever seen. The other was an Hokkaido roller.
There are many scuffs and scratches in the glass, as well as, many tiny chips in the seal. To me, this indicates that this was a true working float.
Found in Hokkaido Island, Japan.
Stunning Ribbon Spindle that almost 1/2 inch wide at its narrowest in the middle of the spindle.
Lovely beer bottle brown color really adds to its uniqueness.
This float measures 15 inches around and is near 5 inches in diameter.
One-of-a-kind float that I think is extremely rare.
Found on Hokkaido Island, Japan.
Blue Dot with mark WP #171 'Asahi' 旭. This is a perfect stamp of WP #171 that's well-centered.
There are blue swirls in the seal.
Found on Hokkaido Island, Japan.
Pinched End Tohoku roller that measures 5 1/4 inches in length.
This float is quite rare for several reasons:
First, it has a 'pinched end' rather than a seal button. The pinched end was done intentional and is not the result on the seal falling off.
This roller is green in color which is unusual.
Another rare attribute are the beautiful green swirls that emanated from both ends of the float.
There are also remnants of barnacles leaving no doubt that this was a true working float.
Found on Hokkaido Island, Japan.
